Vineeta Singh
IIT-to-IIM engineer turned beauty CEO who turned down a ₹1cr bank offer, runs Comrades back-to-back, and will absolutely correct you if you call taupe 'just brown'
Vineeta is the co-founder and CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics, a Shark Tank India shark, and a triathlete and ultramarathoner whose idea of a day off is chasing a sub-22-minute 5K. She bet on herself early, walking away from a Deutsche Bank pre-placement offer to build companies. She has stayed with those ventures for over a decade, through the applause and the boos. Beneath the public persona is a mom who happily goes goofy in selfies with her kids, a sister who turns Rakhi weekend into a family triathlon, and a curious learner who calls a visit to her Kerala team 'my favourite kind of masterclass.' She is intense, funny in Hinglish, generous with credit, and far more interested in the person in the arena than the critic in the stands.
She is the face of her brand and a TV personality with a huge following, and she faces public criticism head-on. Someone threatened by visibility or rattled by headlines would struggle.
- in“When you get more than your fair share of the applause, you have to be ready for the boos when you make mistakes. It's part of the deal”
- IG“Man in the Arena quote posted alongside a thumbnail reading 'SUGAR IS DYING?'”
Endurance sport is part of who she is. Sunday runs, race weekends and hard new formats like Hyrox fill her calendar, and she treasures her 'cheering squad.'
- IG“Sunscreen before Sunday Run ✅”
- IG“love my cheering squad”
Her humor is Hinglish, meme-aware and often at her own expense. She would want a partner who doesn't take themselves too seriously.
- in“So, bhaisaab aap convince ho gaye ya main aur bolun? 🤎”
- in“(And no, mera wala brown again didn't make the cut 🥲)”
Her guiding philosophy is Roosevelt's 'Man in the Arena,' which she recites to her team. She admires people who strive and fall short over people who critique from the sidelines.
- in“The credit belongs to the woman/ man who is actually in the arena”
- IG“It is not the critic who counts”
She is a mother who drops the CEO persona to be silly with her kids, and she folds family into her adventures.
- IG“Happy Mother's Day weekend 🫶 (goofy selfie with two kids, 'to be SILLY' overlay)”
- IG“Rakshabandhan weekend with my little brother @_whynisarg_ coming to my rescue mid race 🤗”
She speaks out publicly on women's safety and opportunity, and it is personal. She was one of 3 women in a class of 120.
- in“Cages are meant for predators, not the prey!”
- in“my Electrical Engineering batch at IIT Madras had all of 3 girls in a class of 120”
- Ultramarathons and triathlonsMore than a casual runner: she has earned back-to-back Comrades medals and races triathlons, including with family.
- in“Also a triathlete and ultramarathoner, her passion for running has helped her challenge her limits time and again”
- IG“Rakshabandhan weekend with my little brother @_whynisarg_ coming to my rescue mid race”
- Chasing personal recordsShe spends days off going after specific numeric goals and celebrates the near-miss anyway.
- IG“Took a day off from work, so thought I'd run a sub 22 min 5K (on a treadmill...)! Had to settle for 22:09, but chalo PB toh hai”
- Hyrox and new fitness formatsShe keeps signing up for brutal new challenges and posts the struggle honestly.
- IG“First Hyrox Solo was brutal with 20-25 no reps on wall balls!”
- BadmintonA competitive player through IIT and IIM, part of the Inter IIT contingent.
- in“Won several inter and intra university badminton tournaments from 2001 to 2005”
- in“Inter IIT Contingent - 2001-2005”
- Spontaneous fun with friendsShe travels to stay with girlfriends and says yes to things like dance classes.
- IG“so much fun having you visit me in pune & stay with me … cherish this memory of our dance class, masti bohot zaroori hai”
- The craft of color and cosmeticsShe can nerd out on shade nuances for days, and she means it.
- in“The difference between taupe and greige is why my arm is a permanent swatch chart and why "close enough" never is!”
- Habits, systems and input metricsShe thinks in process over outcomes and invites others to brainstorm with her.
- in“Swapping out output goal obsession with input metrics. Just helps make daily progress!”
- IG“Give me suggestions - what other output goals we obsess over that we can swap out for more controllable input metrics?”
- How real people improvise (jugaad and regional culture)She loves learning from her team and customers on the ground across India.
- IG“Kerala women have been using these to cover the greys... Talk about jugaad :)”
- in“Celebrating Onam with my Kerala team is always my favourite kind of masterclass”
- Honest conversations women rarely getShe uses her platform for candid topics, from menopause to beauty claims backed by evidence.
- in“Menopause isn't new. Social media did not create it. It's just that the silence around it is finally ending!”
- in“The reasons why less than 5% of claims you see and believe... are backed by valid struc”

- in“inspire them to start their own entrepreneurship journey”

- in“famously known for declining a ₹1cr job offer from a leading investment bank to follow her heart”
- Accountability without dramaShe owns setbacks plainly and publicly, then gets back to work.
- in“The headlines are exaggerated, but not wrong. We did raise a round. It was at a haircut to our peak valuation. We're back to building.”
- Collaboration and humilityShe brings others into decisions and is fine being outvoted.
- in“Instead of choosing for our customers, we asked them to choose with us! More than 3,000 women helped select the 5 new shades”

- Chatty, warm and direct. She mixes English and Hindi ('chalo', 'bhaisaab', 'masti bohot zaroori hai'), uses plenty of emojis, and is quick to poke fun at herself ('Late post. Not my bday today 😅🙏'). On serious topics she is crisp and unhedged, with lines like 'Cages are meant for predators, not the prey!' She asks questions and invites input rather than lecturing.

A secure, self-driven doer who is genuinely unthreatened by her spotlight and gets as excited about her Hyrox splits as about a shade launch. Ideally they are active themselves, up for a Sunday run or a badminton rematch, and fluent in easy desi banter. They should be curious about people and places and love family chaos.
- A competitive badminton match followed by breakfast. She was an inter-IIT tournament winner, so bring your A-game and your sense of humor.
- An early Sunday run or a 5K PB attempt together, then a slow chai debrief on the input metrics that got you there.
- A spontaneous dance class, or a trip to explore a local food market and learn some regional 'jugaad' from the people who live there.
- What does it actually feel like to earn back-to-back Comrades medals, and what's the next brutal race on her list after Hyrox?
- Ask her to settle it: taupe vs greige vs rosewood. Then ask why her brown never makes the cut.
- Her favourite 'masterclass' moment learning from her team, like the Kerala mascara jugaad.
- Which output goal would she swap for an input metric in her personal life? She's asked her audience the same thing.
