Joe Wicks
Went from handing out bootcamp flyers at a train station to getting millions moving, and he'll still tell you the story of his most embarrassing live-stream blooper.
Joe is the Body Coach, a self-made fitness entrepreneur who started out running boxing bootcamps in parks around Surrey and London and grew it into an app, a podcast and a foundation that gives grants to charities. For all the scale, his message is gentle: 'Small steps all add up,' 'five minutes is better than none,' and sometimes the best thing you can do is just go for a walk. He's playful and punny, happy to laugh at himself, and curious enough to test health advice on his own body, from a three-day fibre fast to a freezing river dip to facing his fear of dancing. Underneath the emojis is someone who has spent years putting love into things that help kids feel good, often for free.
He's proud of his slow-built success and humble beginnings, and he frames his wins as the result of years of effort. Someone who sees and values that persistence will feel like home to him.

- IGβMy 10 year overnight success story πβ
He juggles an app, a TV ad, a podcast, charity challenges and overseas wellness events, and his weekends can be taken up by work. A partner needs to be relaxed about that and comfortable with visibility.

For him, movement and fresh air are mood tools rather than performance metrics. He'd thrive with someone who's up for a walk or a day outside, with no gym credentials required.
- IGβIf you're feeling tired, stressed, unmotivated, or stuck todayβ¦ just get outside and go for a short walking.β
- IGβYou don't need a gym. You don't need fancy kit.β
He openly posts his own bloopers and writes punny captions. He needs a partner who laughs along rather than one who's easily embarrassed or cynical.
- IGβThat time I let rip before going live on YouTube for PE With Joe and didn't realise I was already live streaming πβ
- IGβOink-redible scenes π·π€£β

- inβThe Body Coach Foundation has just given its first grants to 9 wonderful charities and organisations π₯³β

- Base
- United Kingdom (roots in Surrey and London parks; studied at St Mary's University, Twickenham)
- Pace
- Fast and full: multiple launches, campaigns and projects running at once
- Social
- Very public and people-facing; he thrives on rallying communities, schools and families
- Travel
- Travels for work, e.g. a wellness festival weekend in Singapore
- Health
- Movement is daily and joyful: walks, 'movement snacks', boxing-style training, cold-water dips, plus cooking and nutrition
- Work / life
- His work is his mission, so the lines blur, and weekends and evenings can be taken up by events and launches
- Talks like
- Warm, exclamatory and emoji-rich (πβΊοΈππ€£). He writes informally with lots of encouragement ('smash', 'amazing', 'brilliant'), cracks puns ('Oink-redible'), and is quick to laugh at himself. He's sincere about emotional moments and says so plainly: 'This is a really special moment for me.'
- Shows care by
- Through encouragement and showing up. He cheers people on 'every step of the way', gives gentle nudges to get outside when you're stressed, and pours time into things that make others feel good. In a relationship, expect a motivating teammate who suggests a walk when you're down, cooks something good, and celebrates your wins loudly.
- Humble about major success and still amazed by it

- Laughs at himself freely
- Has spent years giving things away for free to help kids
- Grateful and appreciative in public
- Willing to face his fears on camera, including dancing
- His calendar is packed with launches, campaigns and travel, so spontaneous plans may often compete with work
- He lives a very public life with near-daily posting, which may not suit someone who values privacy
- His relentless positivity and high energy could feel like a lot on low days
- Work and mission blur together, so switching fully off may take conscious effort
- Cynicism or mocking people for their fitness level
- Snobbery or pretension about success and status
- Someone who resents his mission-driven, busy schedule
- A partner who hates the outdoors and never wants to move at all
Someone warm, down-to-earth and up for a laugh, who loves a walk in the fresh air and doesn't need to be a gym fanatic. They'd respect hard work, care about making a difference for others, and be secure enough to share a partner who is busy and in the public eye. Bonus points if they'll jump in a cold river with him, or at least hold the towel.
- A long walk through a big London or Surrey park, the kind of spot where he started his bootcamps, ending with a picnic
- A countryside escape with phones away: a nature walk, some birdsong, a freezing river dip and a chat with farm animals

- Ask about the flyers at the train station: what did the very first Rumble In The Park bootcamp look like?
- Which Health or Hype experiment surprised him most: cutting his movement, the fibre fast or the river dip?
- His fear of dancing: is he over it now, and would he risk a dance on a date?
